Bush Diary 30 November 2001

Simon is working multivariate analysis of the drillhole results at Goongarrie, while Alan is out on site relogging samples at rehabilitated drill sites. When drill sites are rehabilitated, the plastic bags are removed and samples are tipped out in rows. As Alan relooks at these sites, he has found that the weathering has enhanced the colour differences between the ore zone and different ore types – and in fact is giving more information regarding the zones and assisting in the corelation of ore zones between holes.

Simon and Alan will be taking a field break over Christmas. Over this period we will be catching up on the paperwork…

....... Heron marches on....

Alan steps in on the rig at Goongarrie, where currently 40 x 20 metre followup drilling is taking place at the Pamela Jean Zone.

On completion of rig supervision, Alan will return to Meriola to complete a drill program that was interupted last April by a rig breakdown.

The board meeting on the 25th May 2001 included a site visit to Goongarrie with a bush barbie.

Bush Diary 22 May 2001

....... Busy times continue at Heron....

Dave Crook travelled out to the Laverton area this week and spent time examining potential JV tenements.

Allan Rudd has been busy coping with the sudden rush of pegging activity in the Coolgardie-Spargoville areas. In his spare time, he is supervising the 20x20m Goongarrie drillout!

Simon Gobbett is still spending most of his time on-site at Goongarrie keeping the drillers in line. The drilling continues to enhance the high grade Nickel Laterite zones, and in fact has been extended to follow up better than expected results returned.

Bush Diary 6 April 2001

Ghost Rocks Project

During the month of March the proposed 400 x 80m drill program for Ghost Rocks was completed with a total of 81 RC drill holes for 2299m. The drilling on the western zone returned significant intersections of siliceous goethite (CUS), over adcumulate ultramafic basement. This is similar to our Goongarrie Hill style mineralisation, the ore type being very comparable to the Cawse style siliceous upgradable ore. The location of drill hole pads in some areas proved challenging – however, as always, these were overcome.

The drill rig has been immediately mobilised to our Laverton Nickel Project consisting of Merolia and Mineral Patch Hill Prospects, Alan Rudd our Senior Geologist is to start the RC drill program. This project area has the potential to host a nickel laterite resource. As expected the team at Heron are very excited about this, and await the progress reports from Alan.

Goongarrie Project

RC drilling has commenced at the Goongarrie Hill Prospect targeting open mineralised zones on the western side of the orebody. Upgradeable Cawse style siliceous-limonitic ore was intersected in most drill holes. Results are pending. In between running the rig, Simon's research project on characterising different metallurgical ore types using multi-element geochemistry is taking good shape. This method of characterisation allows a confirmation of correct drill log interpretations.

Laverton Nickel Project

Alan and Fred have been out on reconnaissance fieldwork including drill site preparation undertaken at the Merolia and Mineral Patch Hill Propects.

The tenements cover a northern, aeromagnetically interpreted shear-separated extension to the Coglia Well-Irwin Hills nickel laterite-hosting ultramafic unit. The prospective zones covering in excess of 20km of strike are predominately overlain be alluvium and colluvium sheetwash.

Based on the aeromagnetic interpretation, the Laverton Nickel Project has the potential to host a significant nickel laterite resource.

The proposed 10,000 metre RC drill program over 29 drill lines is anticipated to commence in the March/June 2000 Quarter.

Bush Diary in the lead up to Christmas break...

The 20 x 20 m drilling continues. What an ore body! As expected the ore body just gets better and better. The guys are desperately trying to finish the program before the Christmas break – but with the excellent results being returned the program keeps being extended to follow the ore! Simon is on the rig and looking forward to a well-earned Christmas break in England after finding another 50 million tonnes of ore this year.

The Hannans Rotary Club launched a calendar featuring the art works of students at East Kalgoorlie Primary School. Heron Resources sponsored this project which included site visits for students to local mines and exploration projects.

The annual christmas shed sausage sizzle is being postponed to late January!! – due to the hectic drill schedule and the piles of samples (making it difficult to find a spot for the barbie!)

The annual get together for Shareholders hosted in Kalgoorlie in the last week was very successful and a chance to update shareholders on Goongarrie and other Heron projects as much progress has been made through the year.
